This course follows a reverse-course format based on Gildas Avoine’s cybersecurity MOOC. Students watch the videos before the corresponding class, and class time is used for complementary information, updates, deeper discussion, and questions.

Each class ends with a quiz on the videos. Practical exercises and lab sessions focus on complementary concepts.

Course Description

This course gives students a practical cybersecurity culture for daily professional and personal use. It focuses on understanding common attacks, recognizing information leaks, and adopting habits that reduce exposure without requiring a specialist security background.

Topics include information leakage, spam, malware, passwords, certificates, cryptography, metadata, USB-based attacks, and practical privacy/security tradeoffs.

Cryptographic concepts needed for digital hygiene, password choices, and certificate-based trust.

Security monitoring and metadata

Practical exercises on technology watch and information that files leak about their authors and devices.

Rubber Ducky and local attack surface

Hands-on view of USB-based attacks and the practical gap between user trust and device behavior.

Encryption lab

Practical manipulation of encryption tools and discussion of what encryption protects in realistic workflows.

BadUSB project

Multi-step project around BadUSB-style attacks, credential exposure, and defensive reasoning.
